Robotics Software Engineer Drone Port (m/f/d)

As a Robotics Software Engineer, you play a key role in our Drone Port team, focusing on the development of aircraft drones with vertical take-off and landing capabilities for commercial and governmental applications. Together with our world-class team of currently six members, you will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of drone technology.

You will work closely with stakeholders from software, hardware, engineering, and production to drive the development of a robotic arm aimed at achieving full automation of the take-off, landing, and maintenance of unmanned aerial vehicles. In doing so, you will support Quantum-Systems in its mission to set the standard for aerial data collection solutions with unmanned aviation systems (sUAVs).

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• You take on tasks in software development and integration.

• You are responsible for robot programming in C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink.

• You handle the implementation of state machines in MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.

• You implement computer vision algorithms in Python and C++.

• You contribute to the further development of software infrastructure and middleware for various embedded systems (such as Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, Intel NUC, or Arduino).

• You are responsible for the recording, processing, and visualization of log data.

• You plan, execute, and document system tests.

• You participate in test flight campaigns.

What you bring to the team:

• You have a degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or robotics.

• You have practical experience in drones, robotics, software development, or image processing.

• You have profound knowledge in programming with Matlab/Simulink, C++, Python, OpenCV as well as Git and know the importance of clean code.

• You have passion: You are, for example, interested in model aircraft construction, embedded systems or robotics and you are fascinated with the interplay between hardware and software.
