Head of Logistics (m/f/d)

  • On-site
    • Gilching, Bayern, Germany
  • Supply Chain

To ensure that our international growth is not only fast but also reliably scalable, we are consistently expanding and strengthening our logistics organization.

As Head of Logistics (m/f/d), you will design and lead our end-to-end logistics setup in a highly regulated high-tech environment. You will own both strategy and execution — from Order Processing (Commercial, Governmental & Defense) to Fulfillment & Distribution, Intercompany Supply, and Warehousing.

Your mission: ensure that our complex, high-value systems reach customers and internal entities worldwide on time, secure, damage-free, and fully compliant — even in dynamic project environments.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Leadership & Strategic Governance
Build, lead, and scale a high-performing logistics organization that keeps pace with our growth. Define and continuously evolve our logistics strategy in alignment with product, production, and international expansion plans. Establish governance structures, KPIs, and reporting frameworks suited for a high-tech, project-driven environment.

  • Transparency & Operational Excellence
Drive operational excellence, scalability, and robustness across all logistics domains. Ensure management-level transparency regarding delivery performance, risks, and execution readiness.

  • Order Processing (Commercial, Governmental & Defense)
Own the end-to-end execution model for commercial, governmental, and defense-related orders. Design structured order-processing concepts for serial, project-based, and mission-critical deliveries. Ensure clear handovers and strong execution alignment with Sales, Program Management, and Compliance.

  • Fulfillment & Distribution
Define and operate global fulfillment and distribution concepts for high-value systems. Ensure on-time, secure, and damage-free worldwide deliveries. Select, manage, and further develop logistics service providers, freight forwarders, and special transport partners. Balance speed, security, cost efficiency, and risk mitigation — including contingency concepts for critical and time-sensitive deliveries.

  • Intercompany Supply
Own intercompany logistics flows between production sites, legal entities, and external partners. Standardize processes, handover points, and performance metrics to ensure reliable supply — including support for production ramp-ups and engineering changes — in close coordination with Finance, Production, and Procurement.

  • Warehousing
Define and implement our warehousing strategy (internal and external concepts). Own storage, kitting, staging, and shipment readiness. Drive layout optimization, process standardization, and system utilization. Ensure inventory accuracy, traceability, and transparency while supporting capacity expansions and future automation initiatives.

  • Interfaces to Export Control, Customs & Compliance
Design and operate scalable, clean interfaces between logistics execution and Export Control & Customs. Ensure operational execution strictly follows approved classifications and compliance decisions. Support audits, governmental inspections, and customer reviews with robust documentation. Act as senior escalation partner for execution risks in regulated environments.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Production (output readiness, prioritization, shipment sequencing), Engineering & Program Management (configuration changes and constraints), Procurement & Material Planning (availability, buffers, handovers), Sales (feasibility, lead times), and Quality (packaging, handling, transport risk mitigation).

What you bring to the team:

  • 10+ years of experience in logistics, fulfillment, or supply chain — ideally in high-tech, aerospace, defense, or industrial environments.

  • Proven leadership experience in fast-growing organizations, with the ability to scale teams and structures in line with delivery performance, robustness, and transparency requirements.

  • A strong strategic mindset (structures, governance, roadmaps) combined with hands-on execution capabilities — creating clarity, standards, and reliability in dynamic project environments.

  • Experience with governmental/defense-related or otherwise regulated order execution, and solid understanding of international logistics, export control, and customs processes.

  • KPI-driven, structured, and pragmatic decision-making in the tension field between speed, security, cost, and compliance — ensuring operational transparency.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and clear, accountable cross-functional communication, with true ownership and drive.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and a strong affinity for data-driven steering (KPIs, reporting, decision logic).
