As a Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer, you will be a key member of the Droneport team and lead the development and scaling of electromechanical hardware of our droneport solutions. Together with our world-class team and colleagues across the company, you will play a pivotal role in pushing the boundaries of drone operating platforms. You will work closely with the electronics, software, production and certification teams to develop reliable, manufacturable, and certifiable systems from first prototype to series production. With a focus on product scalability and robustness, you will support Quantum Systems in its mission to become the benchmark for aerial data collection solutions with unmanned aerial systems (sUAV).
What is your Day to Day Mission:
Design and develop mechanical and mechatronic subsystems for the droneport and related systems.
Contribute to overall system architecture, safeguarding requirements and capabilities from a systems engineering perspective.
Select materials and define production processes aligned with structural, thermal, and environmental requirements.
Create and manage detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Validate concepts via prototyping, stress analysis, and simulation. You take your hardware designs through the full prototyping cycle, including assembly and testing.
Plan and manage mechanical testing, reliability validation, and certification processes (e.g., CE, MIL-STD, STANAG).
Ensure designs are scalable for series production with supply chain, DFM, and assembly constraints in mind.
What you bring to the team:
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering.
5+ years experience in mechanical development of industrial, robotic, or automation equipment.
Proficient in CAD tools (CATIA V5 preferred).
Experience with product lifecycle from prototyping to series production, and good knowledge of systems engineering methodology.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC, sheet metal, injection molding, 3D printing and additive manufacturing for prototyping and low-volume parts.
Understanding of mechanical integration with electronics and embedded systems.
You are highly self-motivated, pro-active and take ownership of your responsibilities.
Communication in English is second nature to you.
