Flight Dynamics Modeling Engineer (m/f/d)

As a Flight Dynamics Modeling Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the Flight Control team. Our team is composed of 7 engineers and innovators passionate about developing autonomous systems that push the boundaries of guidance, navigation and control.​

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-fidelity flight dynamics models used in simulation environments to support guidance and control system development, testing, and validation for autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Your contributions will support Quantum Systems in its mission to become the benchmark for aerial intelligence.​

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• Design and implement dynamic flight dynamics models that accurately represent the characteristics of vertical takeoff andlanding (VTOL) fixed-wing UAVs​

• Develop and validate mathematical models for aerodynamic and thrust forces, sensor characteristics, and actuator dynamics​

• Define flight tests that collect data for system model identification​

• Support the integration of models into simulation platforms (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink)​

• Collaborate with software, hardware, and system engineers to create customized models that accurately represent specific real-world characteristics​

• Provide technical documentation and support for system-level simulations and verification processes​

• Participate in design reviews, model validation activities, and flight test campaigns​​

What you bring to the team:

• Master’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics, or a related field​

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in flight dynamics or control system development and modeling​

• Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink and experience with model-based design workflows​

• Strong understanding of fixed-wing and multirotor flight dynamics, control theory, and state estimation techniques​

• Familiarity with software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation environments​

• Experience with C/C++ and/or Python for simulation integration is a plus​

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills​

• Passion for aerial robotics and autonomous systems​
