About the Role

At Quantum Systems, we develop complete Counter-UAS interceptor systems consisting of drones, ground control stations, radar and sensor units, communication links, launch infrastructure, charging systems, field equipment, and operational procedures.

We are looking for one or two Flight Test & Field Systems Engineers to operate, debug, document, and continuously improve this complete field setup. You will be responsible for making the system test-ready, demo-ready, and repeatable in real operational environments.

This is a hands-on field role. You will spend significant time outdoors, at test sites, with real hardware. You will work with engineers from different disciplines and make sure they can test their subsystems without having to operate the full system themselves.

Your Mission

You will own the operational readiness of the complete test setup. You will prepare, transport, configure, operate, debug, document, and improve the field system so that flight tests, demos, and engineering experiments can be executed safely, repeatably, and efficiently.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Set up and operate the complete test system, including Ground Control Station, radar or sensor units, communication equipment, launch infrastructure, charging systems, and drones.

  • Prepare field-test campaigns, demos, integration tests, and engineering experiments.

  • Configure networks, IP addresses, communication links, antennas, sensors, ground-station computers, and related field equipment.

  • Start, stop, monitor, and troubleshoot Ground Control Station software and connected hardware.

  • Collect logs, organize test data, upload data to cloud systems, and make sure engineers receive the data they need.

  • Build and maintain checklists, setup guides, teardown procedures, safety workflows, and test documentation.

  • Develop repeatable procedures so that field setups do not depend on individual improvisation.

  • Support engineers during tests of flight controllers, guidance algorithms, communication links, sensors, mechanical changes, electronics, or software updates.

  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks, basic repairs, battery handling, hardware inspections, and failure assessments.

  • Support the development and operation of a mobile Ground Control Station setup, such as a test vehicle or transportable field station.

  • Support the development and readiness of mobile sensor units and field equipment.

  • Help operate or coordinate target aircraft and other test assets where required.

  • Support safety-critical test activities and obtain required training or licenses where necessary.

  • Work closely with engineering teams to identify root causes after failed tests, crashes, communication issues, or setup problems.

  • Keep the field system ready, documented, and continuously improving.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Hands-on technical background in UAVs, robotics, electronics, mechanical systems, field testing, aerospace, automotive, defense, or comparable environments.

  • Strong practical troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, networks, batteries, cables, sensors, and field equipment.

  • Basic Linux and networking knowledge, including IP configuration, logs, SSH, terminals, routers, radios, and connected devices.

  • Willingness to work outdoors, travel to test sites, and support long or irregular test days when required.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Strong sense of responsibility, safety, and discipline in field operations.

  • Ability to stay calm and structured when tests are under time pressure.

  • Ability to work with engineers from different disciplines and help them execute their tests efficiently.

  • Practical hands-on mindset: you are comfortable repairing, checking, assembling, transporting, and operating real hardware.

    • Experience flying drones, RC aircraft, fixed-wing model aircraft, or turbine-powered model aircraft.

    • Experience with flight testing, test ranges, field operations, military systems, emergency services, robotics competitions, or outdoor technical operations.

    • Experience with radio systems, antennas, telemetry, GNSS, radar systems, video links, or long-range communication.

    • Experience with test documentation, checklists, operational procedures, safety reviews, or incident reporting.

    • Experience with batteries, chargers, high-power electronics, mechanical repairs, 3D printing, or workshop tools.
