We are seeking a highly motivated Mapping / Geo Expert (m/f/d) to join our interdisciplinary team at Quantum Systems. In this role, you will shape and advance our mapping capabilities - from high-precision surveying to dual-use mapping applications.
You will work at the intersection of geospatial data, photogrammetry, mission planning, live processing, and user experience, defining how mapping missions are flown, processed, and experienced by users.
What is your Day to Day Mission:
Optimize and further develop mapping workflows for surveying and geospatial data products
Design and improve dual-use mapping concepts, balancing precision, robustness, and operational usability
Work with high-end camera systems (e.g. Phase One P5, Sony LR1 and comparable sensors) to improve image acquisition and data quality
Develop and optimize 3D stitching, photogrammetry, and reconstruction pipelines
Define and refine mapping mission planning concepts, including flight patterns, overlap strategies, altitude, and sensor configuration
Improve live and near-real-time post-processing pipelines, focusing on speed, quality, and actionable results
Drive the design of user-centric mapping workflows, from mission setup to result analysis
Collaborate closely with software, hardware, and UX/UI teams to translate complex geospatial concepts into intuitive user experiences
Validate and benchmark mapping results using ground truth, simulations, and customer feedback
Continuously evaluate new sensors, algorithms, and tools to evolve our mapping solutions
What you bring to the team:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Geography, or a related field
3–5 years of professional experience in mapping, geospatial data processing, or photogrammetry
Strong understanding of mapping, surveying, and geospatial fundamentals
Experience with photogrammetry, 3D reconstruction, or image stitching
Solid understanding of mapping mission planning for aerial platforms
Ability to work hands-on with complex datasets and translate results into usable products
Strong analytical thinking and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset
Experience working in cross-functional and agile teams
Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics clearly
Nice to have:
Experience with GIS tools (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS)
Experience with photogrammetry software or frameworks (e.g. Metashape, Pix4D, COLMAP, OpenMVG)
Programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python, C++, Rust)
Familiarity with geospatial data formats and standards (GeoTIFF, LAS/LAZ, DEM/DSM, WGS84, UTM)
Experience with live or near-real-time processing pipelines
Interest in UX design for technical and operational users
