Product Owner (New UAV)

  • On-site
    • Kyiv, Kyiv, Ukraine
  • Software Engineering

The role is based in the Kyiv region, and we will expect you to work full-time in the office. We have a shuttle service from the nearest metro station.

About the Job

This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of an entirely new tactical UAV from the very beginning. Your work will directly shape the architecture, functionality, and mission effectiveness of a next-generation system designed to address tomorrow’s operational challenges. Your ownership will be critical in connecting engineering execution with end-user value — from concept to flight.

What is your Day to Day Mission

  • Take ownership of the product development process for a next-generation tactical UAV starting from the ground up.

  • Collect and structure capability requests from internal stakeholders (aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, GCS, compliance, field teams) and translate them into product backlog items with clear acceptance criteria.

  • Lead early-stage system requirement discussions, feasibility evaluations, and definition of MVP architecture.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, embedded, software, testing) to align development priorities and resolve technical dependencies.

  • Maintain and evolve the product backlog in Jira in alignment with stakeholder goals and technical realities.

  • Track implementation status and verify deliverables based on technical and operational criteria.

  • Coordinate system-level integration activities, support testing and validation (including flight tests), and document findings.

  • Act as a central point of contact for all product-related decisions, representing user needs and system vision.

What Brings You to the Team

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Owner, Systems Engineering, or Technical Project Management roles, specifically within UAV or aerospace hardware development.

  • Proven experience contributing to complex hardware product lifecycles — from concept to release.

  • Understanding of UAV system architecture, including airframe design, propulsion, avionics, and control systems.

  • Hands-on experience with Agile product development in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Deep familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and product backlog management.

  • Ability to draft structured capability requirements with measurable acceptance criteria.

  • Experience participating in or managing product/system validation and flight testing processes.

  • Solid problem-solving skills and resilience working in high-uncertainty, high-impact environments.

  • Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between engineering, leadership, and operations.

  • Fluent in English.

📌 Additional assets for this role

  • Direct involvement in the development of UAVs, unmanned systems, or mission-critical hardware platforms.

  • Familiarity with certification, compliance, and NATO/STANAG-related documentation for unmanned systems.
