Fernride is building the future of autonomous logistics by combining advanced automation technology with human‑guided teleoperations. We enable logistics companies to transition toward safer, more efficient, and more sustainable driverless operations. With strong expertise in robotics, AI, and automotive engineering, Fernride delivers scalable solutions that bring real‑world autonomy to industrial environments.
You will work on Fernride’s embedded vehicle software platform, forming the foundation that connects high-level autonomy and teleoperation software to the physical vehicle. This spans the full embedded stack—from bootloader, middleware and operating system up to board support packages, drivers, and vehicles Drive-by-Wire interfaces.
The role sits close to the hardware and is essential for deterministic behavior, reliable time synchronization, and robust sensor integration across the vehicle platform.
What is your Day to Day Mission:
Develop and maintain embedded software across the full vehicle platform, from bootloader to application-level interfaces
Integrate and evolve Drive-by-Wire interfaces and other safety-relevant vehicle controls
Integrate and maintain BSPs, embedded OS configurations, and low-level platform services
Implement and optimize drivers for vehicle sensors and embedded peripherals
Ensure reliable system timing and synchronization across sensors, compute units, and networks
What you bring to the team:
Strong experience in embedded software development (C/C++), ideally in automotive or robotics environments
Solid knowledge of embedded Linux or RTOS-based systems, including bootloaders and BSPs
Experience developing or integrating low-level drivers and hardware interfaces
Understanding of timing, synchronization, and real-time constraints in embedded systems
A quality- and reliability-focused mindset for safety-relevant software
Experience with Drive-by-Wire systems or other vehicle control interfaces
Familiarity with automotive networks and time synchronization mechanisms (e.g. CAN, ETH, PTP)
Experience working with custom hardware platforms and bring-up of new embedded boards
Experience with middleware development
Experience with Rust
Your Benefits:
Direct impact: See your contributions rapidly integrated from cutting-edge research into industrialized products, flying in the field within short development cycles.
Culture & Environment: A dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative startup environment with flat hierarchies, efficient collaboration, and a strong emphasis on continuous learning opportunities.
Work-life Balance: We offer flexible work schedules, and 30 days of paid vacation each year to support your personal and professional life.
Lunch Benefit: We promote healthy eating and the well-being of our employees with a monthly lunch budget.
