Test Engineer (m/f/d) - Fernride GmbH

  • On-site
    • München, Bayern, Germany

We are looking for an experienced Test Engineer who thrives in the broad spectrum between initial concept and final validation for cutting-edge autonomy products. You will bridge the gap between abstract system requirements and concrete, executable test scenarios, ensuring our autonomy products are safe, reliable, and intelligent. You’ll thrive in a high-stakes, dynamic environment where the processes aren't "set in

stone" yet—because you’re the one who will help carve them. If you are motivated by the challenge of autonomous mobility and have a knack for finding the "edge" in edge cases, we want to talk

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Test Specification & Design: Analyze system-level specifications to derive executable test cases. You will ensure every test is repeatable, possesses clear acceptance criteria, and remains true to the original design intent.

  • Strategic Sampling: Manage massive test scenario spaces by applying smart sampling strategies to ensure maximum coverage with optimal resource use.

  • Multi-Modal Allocation: Efficiently allocate tests across different environments, including Simulation, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and Closed-Loop testing.

  • Execution & Oversight: Guide and monitor the execution of test suites and provide technical guidance throughout the process.

  • Validation & Verdicts: Evaluate test runs to provide definitive Pass/Fail/Invalid verdicts, even when dealing with nuanced system behaviors. Provide the development teams with actionable feedback.

What you bring to the team:

  • Autonomy Fundamentals: A solid technical grasp of the autonomous driving domain, including sensor and perception technologies, autonomy path planning and motion control logic and machine learning approaches.

  • Testing Logic: The ability to define "what success looks like" even in the absence of a perfect specification, using engineering intuition to guide the design of valid test setups and communication with systems or software engineering to clarify pass/fail criteria.

  • Modern AI: A basic understanding of Machine Learning approaches and how they impact system testing.

  • Resourcefulness: The ability to create high-fidelity testing conditions even when resources are limited.

  • Driver License: You have at minimum a drivers license Class B (preferred: class C) and are comfortable with going independently to different test tracks and drive or operate our autonomy products on them.

Your Benefits:

  • Direct impact: See your contributions rapidly integrated from cutting-edge research into industrialized products, flying in the field within short development cycles.

  • Culture & Environment: A dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative startup environment with flat hierarchies, efficient collaboration, and a strong emphasis on continuous learning opportunities.

  • Work-life Balance: We offer flexible work schedules, and 30 days of paid vacation each year to support your personal and professional life.

  • Lunch Benefit: We promote healthy eating and the well-being of our employees with a monthly lunch budget.

  • Health & Wellness: We support your physical well-being with a company-subsidized eGym Wellpass membership, giving you access to thousands of gyms and sports facilities.
